What makes the tip of your nail white?

And the rest of it flesh colored? What makes the tip of your nail white?
Above the finger it's white because it has grown past the fleshy part of the finger and is now 'dead'; (which is why it doesn't hurt to cut it)...flesh colored because that's the color of your skin..which you can see through the nail...it hurts to cut this part because it is still receiving a blood supply from the finger..What makes the tip of your nail white?
melanin
i heard that dabbing lemons to your nails make nails clearer..
