What happens when you put Nail polish remover on stained white shorts?

I have stained white shorts. I dont have bleach. I was wondering if I put nail polish remover on the shorts would the stain dye the shorts white so it matches the rest of the shorts?What happens when you put Nail polish remover on stained white shorts?
Nail polish remover would work on ink, but not much else. Try using oxyclean, or scrubbing at the stain with some bar soap.
