Whats that white stuff inside your nail?

You know on your thumb nail, near the bottom theres a semi circle thats white? WHat is it n whys it there?Whats that white stuff inside your nail?
Its called the 'lunula.' It is the visible portion of the nail matrix. The matrix is the part from which your nails grow out from. Its located slightly behind the nail folds, or as some people call them - the cuticle area. You cannot see the matrix except for the lunula. This is the portion that you are referring to which is shaped like a white half moon at the base of your nails. One thing to remember: Avoid damaging that part of your nail if at all possible. It is very thin and sensitive there. A trauma to that part of your nail could result in a nail deformity, or even permanent nail loss. I hope this helps. If you want to know more, simply look up lunula in your favorite search engine...Whats that white stuff inside your nail?
