What does the length of the white part in the nail nearest the skin mean?

My white part on my nail nearest the cuticle is really short. A friends white part is like half of his nails' worth. Does this mean anything??? Does it mean he's healthier etc? What does the length of the white part in the nail nearest the skin mean?
As far as I know having a larger or smaller lunula area does not say if you are healthier or not.

Lunula: This is part of the matrix and is the whitish, half-moon shape at the base of the nail, usually most pronounced on the thumb. What does the length of the white part in the nail nearest the skin mean?
I'm assuming you mean the cuticle, the soft flap of skin that covers the nail plate where it is attached to your finger. It's there to protect the cells of the nail plate as it grows, prevents dirt and infection from harming the nail bed. If his is longer it's just been growing out and honestly, it needs to be cleaned up a bit with cuticle remover and use some oil or cream to soften and push back towards the skin. Doesn't mean yours are unhealthy at all. :)
That white part is called lunula, and the only thing i know that can be told from it is that if you have a small one, you more than likely have a slower metabolism than she does.

Now tell me, is it that way? Can she (having large lunulas) get away with eating more than you do?
No, the white area is just genetically determined. The only thing to worry about is ridges or white flecks suddenly appearing in your nails. The white flecks mean you're deficient in calcium and the ridges can mean something is wrong with your kidneys (but they also indicate poor absorption of vitamins and minerals).

Edit: I mean, sudden changes in your nails can be an indication of health concerns. Some people have naturally occuring ridges in their nails.
There is a superstition that says that telling lies causes white stuff in the nail
