It can't the new nail! I have had times where I cut my nails every time they grow even a bit, I had times biting my nails, and I had times where my nail grew very long and I never cut it. its a calcium defficientcy, or injury in your nail bed that allowed a gap in between the nail bed and your nail.
i don't know, but back in the day, the number of white spots you had on your nails was the number of boyfriends you had. ( or girlfriends). old wives tale.
